What you need
Chess is just a game strictly for two. (Well, of course you can team up...) The white goes against the black in this game. In some game sets, there might be some variation in the colour of the pieces, but you will be able to tell apart the two distinct colours. What you need next is a 8 by 8 checkered board filled with alternate squares. You can use anyone that you use for other games including checkers. Usually, the board comes with the pieces, bundled and sold as a set. Higher quality chess sets come in the form of delicately carved chess pieces, but as a beginner, you can start with a cheaper chess set as an alternative. You see those alphabets and numbers in the corners? These help to annotate, or record the moves that both players make in a tournament. Are you all set and ready?
