Firstly, let me tell you that chess is FUN. Remember that. If you are reading this now, you must be interested to know how to play chess, or more specifically, International Chess. I personally define chess as an extremely intellectual game which involves lots of brain cells. Of course, I enjoy a game or two with some of my friends occasionally. What you need is a board, a friend to play with and you are all set to learn chess. Not necessarily a board and a friend though, there are many websites that offer free online chess against a computer or against other players sitting in front of their computer. Of course, you can play from a software too. Just like many games, the way to play, or the "properties" of the game, is not as important as the strategy. You do need a lot of thinking to play a good game. Wait a minute. If you think that only the most intelligent geek (slash) nerds can start to learn this mind sport, then you are so wrong. Everyone can learn chess. So what are you waiting for? Click on the links at the side to learn about the different pieces in chess.
Is chess addictive?
Well, this is entirely up to you. Some just have the chess knack, but most learn a couple to chess tactics and strategies to be able to play fairly well. One thing about chess is that it is a great time killer if you can get a friend to play with you. If you intent to play chess on-the-move, you should get a portable chess set that stick to your board with the magnets.
